This is the fourth mosaic in the ‘Roman with a twist’ series.
We often see sports depicted in ancient Roman mosaics, men in long clothes (or a skirt) can also be spotted, but I’ve never seen fluorescent sports shoes ;-).
Each mosaic comes with its own challenges, with this one, simplifying the skirt and not getting lost in the lines that should or should not go through, was quite a challenge! But that’s ok, that’s how it stays fun, exciting and fascinating. I already have an idea for the next one…

Aurora Mosaics said about this mosaic: Since it is a contemporary theme/image made in Roman style, I have to look twice to see if the Romans could have made this and then I see it isn’t (because of the theme, Sumo Wrestlers didn’t excist yet), but the mastery is there. So it’s a bit of a brain twister and that’s why I like the job so much.
